Savoyed (crinkled) leaves with striking pink stems. Delicious lightly sautéed in olive oil. Can be used like spinach is a variety of dishes.
Plant from mid-spring into midsummer or fall where winters are mild.
Planting Instructions: Plant 8-12” apart in rows 12-18” apart or use as an edible ornamental in flowerbeds. Soil pH should be over 6.0. Cool and mild weather is preferred, though chard has some heat tolerance. Seedlings will tolerate light frosts, and mature plants are hardy to moderate frosts. Chard may overwinter in mild areas.
Light Preference: Sun to a little shade
Harvest: When leaves begin to reach a mature size (about 40-45 days after planting), clip or carefully break off one or two mature leaves from the bottom of each plant. Chard will grow new leaves from the top. To maintain plant health and best yield do not strip the plants.
