Kale (Scarlet)


Kale is considered to be one of the healthiest and most nutritious plant foods. The broad, frilly, purple leaves of Scarlet Kale grow on 2-3’ tall stalks. Can also used as bedding ornamental.

Kale prefers cooler growing conditions but will produce good crops under warmer conditions as well.

Planting Instructions: Plant in fertile, well-drained soil high in organic matter with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5. Consistent moisture will produce the best quality leaves. Plant 12-18” apart in rows 18-36” apart.

Light Preference: Sun to a little shade.

Harvest: Beginning about 41 days after planting, harvest by clipping one or two individual leaves at the bottom of the stalk. Leaves will continue to grow from the top.
